Microsoft Continues To Deny Blu-ray Xbox Rumors

On Friday, I reported that Microsoft had contracted an Asustek subsidiary to produce Xbox 360 units featuring Blu-ray support.  Today, MS refuted that report, reaffirming their contention that they have no plans to match a Blu-ray drive with their popular next-gen console - citing quality games as the main reason consumers continue to purchase gaming systems, presumably not advanced hardware.  To be honest, I'd really like to see Xbox 360 systems with integrated Blu-ray drives, as I feel the leveled battlefield would result in fierce pricing competition that would only benefit consumers.  Stay tuned, because this story isn't going away.
