A Record Breaking Combination Of Mentos And Coke

A story about sex followed by one concerning fountains of sticky liquid here on OCC isn't exactly a daily occurence (I'll let you make up your own obvious jokes for that). The fact that people even attempt to break this world record shows how widespread the infamous mentos/coke experiment is. A couple of days ago in Leuven, Belgium of all places a group of nearly 1500 students (ok 1360 if you are going to get specific) dressed in water proof ponchos, descended on Ladeuzeplein square to add mints to soft drink. The results were pretty predictable of course, with hundreds of fountains of sweet sugary liquid shooting into the air. I'm sure the respective companies who sell the products were more than happy to sponsor the event, and it puts Belgium on the map for something (the Belgians have a reputation in Europe for being a little well... dull). This being a web based world, you can find footage of the event on YouTube (you'll have to excuse the foreign language and brash soundtrack).
