Does AMD Have a Secret Overclocking Weapon?

By now, it's probably safe to assume that most PC enthusiasts have heard about CPU maker AMD's shortcomings in every imaginable category, and the 10% "across the board" employee layoff plan, right?  Well, there's finally some good news coming out of the AMD camp that's sure to pique the interest of enthusiasts and overclockers, and it comes in the form of the SB750 Southbridge chip.  While the details on the exact workings of the SB750 are a closely guarded secret, the chip is said to be the "oomph" behind AMD's OverDrive 3.0 overclocking utility.  During a recent demo, it was noted that considerable effort was needed to overclock an AMD CPU to 3.0 GHz, but when the SB750's OverDrive utility was enabled, that same chip had absolutely no problem hitting 3.2 GHz.  I know I'm not the only OCC member happy to see AMD taking steps in the right direction, and I truly hope this is the first of many...
