USB 3.0 to hit the shelves sometime in 2009

(the USB 3.0 Promoter Group Chairman) has said that USB 3.0 is on its way and that we should expect some primary releases in 2009. SuperSpeed USB 3.0 can deliver a maximum data rate of 5Gbit/s, that is enough throughput to download a 27GB HighDef movie in a bit over one minute. SuperSpeed USB 3.0 is most likely geared toward the increasing speeds of flash based media as the current hard drive tecjnology wouldn't benefit from such a speed increase.
