ASUS definitely found a niche in the laptop market with its introduction of the Eee PC 401 late in 2007. Half a year later and with no real competitors in sight ASUS is ramping up to release its Eee PC 900. It was known that this model would feature an 8.9" screen versus the original 7", but the resolution is being uped to 1024x600, which is definitely a welcome sight. Windows XP will be available with an 8GB SSD, Xandros Linux will still be available but with a 12GB SSD instead, no word yet if you can get it with a smaller SSD but I don't see why not. As this new model will be slightly larger future additions will include HDD's and the use of Intel's Atom processor which promises more computing power and better battery life, which ASUS hopes to eventually to hit 8 hours. Additional new features include Bluetooth support and finger gestures, much like what is used on the iPhone and iPod touch.
