Unauthorized Wi-Fi Access Still Unlawful in Maryland

Should you face heavy penalties for accidentally accessing a Wi-Fi connection that doesn't belong to you? A Maryland bill was introduced that if a person accidentally accesses a Wi-Fi connection other than their own, they would be held innocent, but the bill is under heavy fire. Under current Maryland law any person accessing a wireless internet connection without permission could face heavy legal ramifications. A similar case arose in Michigan when a man was fined and put on probation after accessing a coffee shop's Wi-Fi while in his car just outside rather than inside the building. On a side note, I was unable to find if he actually bought a coffee or not.
