Having a dedicated home theatre PC makes a lot of sense, and there is a pretty good range of products out there to help you build one. Abit today launched the I-G31 motherboard with that goal in mind. It looks to be aimed at the more budget minded consumer, coming with Intel's G31 chipset, which supports CPUs with an FSB up to 1333MHz and allows the use of 45nm chips. On-board video is handled by the Intel GMA 3100 graphics processor, a Dx9 part with shader model 2.0, OpenGL 1.4 and Clear Video Technology. The board gives you video out with a standard D-Sub connector (no DVI or HDMI here) and 5.1 audio output via a HD codec. Other features include Dual DDR2 slots, 4 x SATA 3 ports, Gigabit LAN and abit EQ for montoring your hardware. The whole thing comes wrapped up in the mATX form factor and should be available soon. No word on pricing as yet.
