OCZ -

When you are considering memory in the current climate, you have to ask yourself if 2GB is really enough. With 64bit OS support, and the fact that the latest programs and more specifically games eating up considerable amounts of RAM more and more people are going for the 4GB option. We all know that you can never have too much memory, and with DDR2 memory prices still very attractive for the consumer, this seems like a sensible decision for the enthusiast user.

This is exactly the type of people OCZ are thinking of with the announcement of its new PC2-8000 (that's 1000MHz) Platinum Edition 4GB dual channel kit, which aims to offer high performance while retaining good value. The modules are adorned with OCZ's now familiar XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) heat spreaders and come in with a MSRP of $159.99. For that you get 5-5-5 timings at 1GHz while pushing 2.1v, with up to 2.15v still covered under OCZ's lifetime warranty (which OCZ call 'Extended Voltage Protection'). This should give enthusiasts the option of increased memory capacity without sacrificing speed (which we are all very fond of around here of course).
