Systemax Acquires CompUSA Brand and Stores

Systemax has reached an agreement with CompUSA to acquire the brand, trademarks and e-commerce business. The deal, expected to be worth around $30 million, includes as many as 16 retail store locations. Systemax is a fortune 1000 company best know for its Systemax line of PCs and is the parent company of TigerDirect.com. "We believe the value of the CompUSA brand remains very high," Systemax Chief Executive Richard Leeds said in a statement. "We view this acquisition as a strong complementary business to our TigerDirect operation."
