Category: Software

BBC News - Microsoft is to start field testing a special light-weight version of Windows XP to be used on the $100 Laptop's, or the XO's. In case you have been in a hole for awhile, the XO is the outcome of the One Laptop Per Child project, their aim is to spread technology to children in the form of these budget laptops in the developing world for educational purposes. Organizers of the project believe that putting Windows on the laptop will make it more appealing for governments to purchase, however if they want Windows on the laptop they will of course have to buy a license.
