Samsung is preparing to present a dissertation on a faster class of graphics memory next February at a conference in San Francisco. With nearly 375% the speed of today's GDDR3 memory chips, the new memory, dubbed GDDR5, is expected to have a maximum bandwidth of 6 gigabits per second and will operate at 1.5 volts versus 1.8 volts needed by GDDR3. This all translates in faster games and could lead to newer and better ways of rendering scenes.
