News: JVC TV responds to claps and waves for channel changes
I am sure most of us have seen those clap on, clap off devices, or seen the commercial on TV. At the CEATEC Japan 2007, JVC showed off a handclap and gesture recognition TV. The TV has a built in microphone to collect the sound of handclaps and distinguishes commands based on the timing and number of handclaps. The TV also has a built in camera that detects hand gestures in the video. The camera monitors the hand which is layered behind the icons and works like a pointer. Just choose an icon by placing your fingertip on it and click it by hooking the finger. For you lazy couch potatoes you will still have to raise your arm up, so this may not be the TV for you.
