Super Talent -

One of the well known manufacturers of memory and flash drive solutions Super Talent announced last week that it would be producing DDR3 memory with the new (XMP) Extreme Memory Profiles specification. XMP specification utilizes a reserved sector of the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) on memory modules to store factory configured profiles of memory timing settings. XMP was designed to optimize memory performance with motherboards based on the Intel P35 and upcoming X38 chipsets. They are currently offering 1066 Mhz through 1866 Mhz with timings from 7-6-6-18 through 9-9-9-21 available only in a single one gigabyte stick or dual channel kits consisting of two one gigabyte sticks. Although DDR3 is still quit expensive at this day and time compared to DDR2 it is available. How Well it performs I guess we will have to wait and see as this option just became available on some of the latest P35 intel chipset motherboards.
