DECwakeboarder commented on 2006-01-02 22:00:00 that: looks nice, I would say get a better fan on the HS...but if you're going w/c ther is no need. CNUco2007 commented on 2005-09-30 22:00:00 that: I have a window, I just took it off and put a regular door on. Not really interested in the flashyness nemore. I'm going more for a quiet computer now :). i'm gonna get some sound insulating foam and stuff to hush it up a bit :) openwheelracing commented on 2005-09-29 22:00:00 that: I thought running hdds w/ enclosures could slow down the performance. Have you tried benching the performance of these drivers w/ and w/o the enclosure? lost commented on 2005-09-29 22:00:00 that: probably need lots of fans for those hard drives huh? u gonna use the watercooling to cool the hard drives as well? CNUco2007 commented on 2005-09-29 22:00:00 that: The enclosure doesnt effect the drives performance at all. I get the same thing i used to get. ~45-50Mb/s on the storage drive and about 80Mb/s on the RAID. As for cooling, they actually run cooler because there is an 80mm fan that pulls air right through them from the front. They stay about 2*C above ambient and thats using their onboard sensors so im assuming those are fairly accurate. Now keep in mind, this enclosure isn't some cheap knock-off. It costs about $146 or so. I was using some cheap no name brand before and had nothing but issues w/ it. Hell the custom fans even died lol. Thats why i bought this ICYDOCK one. Its been great. If i buy any more, they will sureley be ICYDOCK. :) Verran commented on 2005-09-22 22:00:00 that: wow, that hotswap bay is cool, but a bit pricey for my needs. I would get it just to relocate the drives, not to actually hotswap. I figured it'd be nice if you were going to do WC to make some more room, but I didn't realize it was that expensive. CNUco2007 commented on 2005-09-22 22:00:00 that: Yea, thats actually why i got the HotSwap rack is cuz i needed to remove the drive cage in the bottom to make room for the Heatercore. I'm hoping some day i'll actually get the rest of the water cooling stuff. I figure its not hurting anything so i'll just leave the HC there untill i actually do the watercooling haha roadkill commented on 2005-09-17 22:00:00 that: With a PCP and C psu and Delta fans... you deserve a 20 :D Verran commented on 2005-09-17 22:00:00 that: That looks great! What exactly is that hotswap style enclosure you have for your hard drives? Did you buy that, or make it? CNUco2007 commented on 2005-09-17 22:00:00 that: wow, thx for the comments... i was waiting for someone to say i need wiremanagement lol. The pics make it look like i do, but if you saw it in person, its actually realling clean looking. The hotswap rack is by ICYDOCK. Great product, fully aluminum, and has a real 80mm fan on the back. not some cheap custom shaped fan lol. I can replace it w/ one if i want. Keeps the hard drives at an average of 24C and ambient is 22C. :) You can see it over at performance-pcs.com if ya want. Hyper Threaded commented on 2005-09-16 22:00:00 that: Looks good. One of the better Tsunami's I've seen! |
